The National Lifeguard Instructor course provides candidates with an understanding of the principles and practices on which the National Lifeguard program is based. The course explores teaching approaches and techniques appropriate for National Lifeguard candidates. After successful completion of the course, National Lifeguard Instructors are certified to teach the National Lifeguard course in the option(s) they hold (i.e., National Lifeguard Instructors who hold National Lifeguard Pool may teach National Lifeguard Pool, etc.). National Lifeguard Instructor Award Guide included in fee, will be available one week prior to course start date. Prerequisites: National Lifeguard (any option) and Lifesaving Instructor certifications (need not be current). Advanced/Leadership Course Withdrawal: program withdrawal is permitted up to 14 days before the start of the course and will incur a 15% administration fee. Withdrawal from the course and any subsequent refund is not permitted within 14 days of the first date of the course, unless a medical note is provided to the Aquatic Coordinator. Approval of the withdrawal and refund will then be at the discretion of the Coordinator. Release, Waiver, and Indemnity: The Participant (or parent or guardian if Participant is under the age of 18) voluntarily assumes any risk of injury or damage in connection with the use of services or facilities, and releases, discharges, and agrees to indemnify and save harmless the City of Peterborough and its employees, agents, and volunteers from any liability, claim, demand, or cost whatsoever incurred arising out of the participation of the Participant in the program at the facility.
